Up until now there hasn’t been much activity in our nest box around the back of the school near the kitchen. A couple of blue tits have been spotted investigating the box from the outside and more recently have checked out the inside of the box.
Help us record activity in our colour birdcam box (kitchen nest box) by leaving your comments on this post.
Update: 26th April – 2 blue tit eggs spotted; 30th April – 6 eggs spotted
Another visit from a blue tit, probably it appreciates the peace and quiet of the Easter holidays!
Some blue tits were a bit more active in the box today. They even brought in a tiny bit of nesting material!
The blue tits spent quite a bit of time in the box today despite the wet weather. A bit more moss and grass were brought in but not enough to cover the bottom of the box.
Well someone seems to be staying overnight. A bluetit?
Yes, it’s a blue tit. It has stayed in the box the last couple of nights. Only seen birds during the day up until now.
We have just looked in your box. There are so many feathers we can’t see if there are any eggs!
We’ve had a blue tit sleeping in our box for a few nights so we are hoping to find some eggs in our nest one morning like you did!
arrr birds in both boxes
Just before the blue tit settled down in the colour birdcam box, I spotted 2 eggs! Maybe there are some in the other box too, but just hidden! We’ll have a good look at school tomorrow.
The eggs were uncovered for a while today revealing 6 eggs, that’s one a day since the first two were spotted on the 26th April. Incubation hasn’t started yet, so we could be seeing some more eggs over the next few days.
