Religious Education and Church Activities

Our RE curriculum is based on the Derbyshire and Derby City Agreed Syllabus 2020-2025 and more information can be found in our RE Policy 2022.

Each term the Church Council decide on a theme for Collective Worship linked to the ‘Values for Life‘ programme:

COMPASSION

Children learn that compassion is about ‘standing in someone else’s shoes’ when they are having a hard time, understand how they are feeling and how we can do our best to help others in need.

Compassion

HUMILITY

Children learn that God was not only King, but he was also a servant. They learn that everyone is equal and that humility is a quality of being respectful of others.

Humility

Faith Trail around Derby

The whole school occasionally visits the Faith Centre in Derby where children have the opportunity to visit a variety of places of worship. These may include a Hindu Mandir, Sikh Gurdwara, Mosque and Christian Baptist Church. We look at different art forms, including paintings of the gurus, representations of Jesus and the use of symbol and pattern.
