Climbing Wall Revamp

Our climbing wall mural has been looking rather tired for a while, so we asked Pete Barber, Graffitti Artist  to visit again to work with the children to design and paint a new mural. This activity was funded through our Awards For All Lottery grant. We’re sure you’ll agree it looks great.

Girl with the Roses

You may have seen some of Peter Barber’s work in Chesterfield which includes the “Girl with the Roses” mural on the the bridge supports near the cafe in Queen’s Park. It is based on the story of a little girl who sneakily picked one of her father’s roses and was made to pose for a statue as punishment. The statue can be seen in the glass conservatory which is also in Queen’s Park.

Birdcam live this weekend

Thank you Mr Marriot for carrying out our annual bird box clear out. Our colour birdcam will be streaming live video this weekend.

A Blue tit is currently roosting in the box and may also visit during the day.

‘Children in Need’ 18th November

We are raising funds for ‘Children in Need’on November18th by inviting children to come along to school wearing something spotty or stripy and donating £1.00/£2.00 to the collection. Children will be taking part in some fun games and activities during the day but please remember to bring coats and sensible footwear as there will still be swimming for KS2 and outdoor breaks.

Cross Country and fun to run

On Thursday 6th October 28 children (over 60% of the school!) went to Tupton Hall for the Cross country and fun to run competitions. Once the races started there were hundreds of people there running and supporting the children.

The Stretton Handley children performed brilliantly in the course which was nearly 2000m for the years 4, 5 and 6 and 1000m for the year 2 and 3’s.

Special mentions go out to LH who came 2nd overall in the y4 girls competition and GT and FT who came 5th and 3rd respectively in the year 3 boys and year 3 girls competition.

The children had a fantastic time at such a well run event!
