Football match report vs North Wingfield

On Monday 15th October the Stretton Handley team had their third game of the season and their first away from home. It was a very wet breezy day so the conditions weren’t the best.

Stretton kicked off the game and went on the attack straight away through LR and LH. They managed to win a corner which MH took and somehow he managed to curl it towards the keeper and it deflected in! 1-0 straight from the corner spot!

Again Stretton continued to pressure the North Wingfield team and they created another corner and believe it or not. MH did exactly the same again! From the corner spot! 2-0.

North Wingfield were pegged back but did manage to create one chance which GH, KH and GT defended well so that goalkeeper TH didn’t have to make a save. From the resulting goal kick LR played an excellent long ball to MH who wriggled free from the defenders and shot only for the ball to be blocked. It looped up into the air and LH jumped highest and with a powerful header she smashed the ball into the bottom corner, 3-0!

North Wingfield did manage to create a good chance and after a good tackle by GT the ball fell to a North Wingfield player who powerfully struck the ball into the bottom corner, 3-1.

Just before half time MH again caused havoc with a corner kick and the ball ended up in the net, 4-1 to Stretton Handley.

The second half was much tighter with North Wingfield defending well. RJ made a strong tackle and passed to LH who passed to MH who ran down the wing and crossed for LR. LR’s shot was heading for the net only for a good save by the goalkeeper to keep the score at 4-1.

With 10 minutes to go MH ran through one on one with the keeper after a good pass by RJ and he made no mistake, 5-1. Within a minute of kick off GT hit a long range high shot which the keeper saved but then from the rebound MH powerfully smashed the ball into the net, 6-1, which is how the game finished.

Another fantastic win for the Stretton Handley team with MH scoring 5 making it his 11th goal of the season in just 3 games! LH also scored her first goal and the teams first header of the season. Star player was awarded to GT with a fantastic defensive performance!

Next game at home to Parkhouse on Monday 22nd October!
