To explore the children’s interests beyond the classroom we hold many and varies lunchtime and after school clubs.
Football Club
Every Wednesday lunchtime at 12.30pm there is Football Club with Mr Cooke on the field. This is an opportunity for children in KS2 to develop their football skills, as well as coaching/training sessions for potential games against other schools. Football kit is needed.
Table Tennis Club
The Table Tennis Club runs every Friday lunchtime at 12.30pm with Mr Cooke in the hall. It is a great way to improve table tennis skills as well as play games against each other. For Year 5 & 6 only.
Music
We have a visiting piano teacher who comes into school giving the children the opportunity to learn to play the piano, either individually or in small groups at a small cost to parents. All ages welcome. We have links to other peripatetic teachers. If you are interested in music lessons, please get in touch.
Singing Club
We love singing at Stretton Handley. Come and sing your favourite songs with Mrs Nicholson on Friday Lunchtimes at 12:30pm. For KS2 children.
Qualitas Sports Club
Qualitas Sport run an after school club on Thursdays 3.15pm-4.15pm, focusing on various sports eg Dodge Ball, Athletics, Fundamentals, Kwik Cricket, Basketball, Badminton.
Minecraft Club
Children will build, edit, and explore a full course of fun and educational projects in Minecraft. They will learn to explore within Minecraft, then move on to building and crafting. Children will use their knowledge and creativity to make projects on their own. This runs every Tuesday lunchtime at 12.30pm with Mrs Mahadeven in the Computer Suite. No need to book or sign up. This club will alternate between lower KS2 and upper KS2 on a termly basis.
Art and Crafts Club
Art and Craft Club runs every Monday lunchtime at 12.30pm in Woodpeckers Classroom with Mrs Haynes and is for children of all ages. No need to book or sign up. Our smilers team also run their own craft and chat club on Tuesday at 12.30pm for children who just enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.
Nature Club
We make use of our beautiful surroundings and introduce the children to the wonders of gardening and nature. The children will be using the school garden to learn all about gardening techniques, using the bird hide to spot and monitor the birds in our grounds and help to make our school environment ‘greener’. Nature Club runs on a Wednesday Lunchtime at 12.30pm with Mrs Haynes in the school garden. The club is open to anyone.
Building Club
Building club is run by our smilers team and Mrs Haynes on a Thursday lunchtime in the Woodpeckers classroom. You will have the opportunity to build structures with K’nex or Lego.
