The rowan is a small broadleaf tree. It is also deciduous.
The leaves are compound with up to 17 leaflets. The edges are toothed. The bark is smooth and grey.
The small, orange berries grow in autumn. You can make jelly with them which you can eat with meat. It's flowers will come in late April. The flowers are small, white and hang in bunches. They smell musty.
