Ash is a compound leaf with nine leaflets on a twig. The bark is grey and ridged. The seeds can grow to 15mm long and they are known as keys. Each seed has a twisted vane so that it spins when it falls, to give maximum flight. They grow in bunches which normally stay on through the winter. |
