NAUGHTY CHILDREN!

Children got into trouble for the same sort of reasons as children do now but they were punished by being whipped. Sometimes the police or the vicar was called in.

The things that children got into trouble for were: damaging property, being rude, throwing stones, not doing lessons properly, playing with matches, being dirty and untidy, thieving, being cruel to animals and truancy.
