Lea Green Outdoor Centre is run by Derbyshire County Council and is only five miles from our school.
During the Summer Term, Years 4, 5 & 6 attend a 3 day residential course, at Lea Green (or Mount Cook , near Matlock) taking part in activities such as rock scrambling, orienteering, river walking, night walks, high and low ropes, archery, and den building, as well as indoor and outdoor sports and games.
Our younger children Reception, Year 1 and 2 enjoy day visits to Lea Green and take part in obstacle courses, low ropes, ‘cave climbing wall’, orienteering etc.
Year 6 have also attended Science days and Geography days, with activities led by Centre staff and PGCE students. These have included; investigations into worms, minibeasts, soils and trees; building rockets and helicopters; pond dipping and investigating the local environment. Year 5 have visited Lea Green to take part in Healthy Living Days.
